Single Proxy Instructions

Changes to Wireless & Internet access at Merewether High School will be effective from 17 th May 2016
Secure Proxy Authentication (SPA) is being rolled out across NSW schools as part of the ongoing network and infrastructure upgrade. SPA is the first step in establishing a Single Sign-On service for Merewether High School and other NSW schools, with phase two scheduled to roll out in the second-half of this year. Once complete, SPA will remove the need to continually authenticate for Internet sessions.
To access the new system students will have to add @detnsw to their logon details
eg. firstname.surname@detnsw (Please see attachment)
All BYOD devices including Apple Macs, iPads, Android devices, Chromebooks and Windows devices (eg MS Surface) that are used to access the Internet via the school's network, will require adjustments to their network access settings effective from the 17 th of May.
BYOD devices will need to manually authenticate to the Secure Proxy for Internet services. The device's browser should preferably be set to point to the new PAC file (see below) or be configured for automatic proxy detection.
If your device can only accept a manual proxy setting , it should be set to on port 8080.
Details on how to make the necessary changes are included in the document linked below.
