Enrolment Information for Year 6 into Year 7

For all Year 7 enrolment information, please visit the Department of Education's  Selective High Schools  page. Please also note:

• Students begin the registration process in November of Year 5.
• Selective High School Unit will communicate directly with applicants once a registration is created.
• An information session and tour is offered for families of students in Year 5 in October of each year. This information is communicated with local primary schools and advertised on the MHS Facebook page. The most recent presentation may be found here:  Y7 Parent Information Session Presentation

Enrolment Information for Year 8 to Year 11

Applications for 2026 have closed. The 2027 application process will open between June and July 2026. Updated information and an application form will be published here when they become available. There is no placement test for these enrolments. For more information please visit NSW Selective High Schools.

We suggest the following information be included with your application:

• a covering letter

• copies of the last two years school reports, including first semester of current year
• a copy of your child's most recent NAPLAN results
• copies of recent academic awards
• a copy of your child's birth certificate
• proof of citizenship or permanent residency
• any other information which may assist the panel to assess your child's academic achievements.

These applications are considered by a panel consisting of the Principal and Deputy Principals. The panel meets in Term 3 each year, and applicants are advised of the outcome after these are determined.  Waiting lists are established which remain current until the end of Term 1 the following year. A new application must be lodged each year if you wish to be considered for future placement.

School contributions

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.
