Welcome from our principal
'Welcome to Merewether High School, a community where excellence, curiosity and care come together.
As the only academically selective high school in the Hunter Region, we are privileged to work with some of the state’s most capable, creative and compassionate young people. Since our establishment in 1989, Merewether High has built a proud tradition of academic, cultural and sporting excellence, leadership and service, one that continues to evolve as we prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly dynamic world.
Our commitment to educate and nurture high potential and gifted students across all domains: intellectual, creative, social-emotional and physical.
We value both academic rigour and personal growth, ensuring every student is challenged, supported and inspired to achieve their personal best.Strong relationships underpin our success. Our dedicated teachers, supportive families and motivated students together create a learning community where every individual is known, valued and cared for.
Guided by a focus on innovation, wellbeing and social responsibility, Merewether High empowers young people to think critically, act with integrity and contribute meaningfully to a diverse and interconnected world.
