Deputies' Report

Welcome back to Term 3! The beginning of this term has been a reminder of Term 2 2020, where we were putting contingency plans into place to allow for COVID 19 restrictions.

Covid Restrictions

Even though we have been fortunate here in the Newcastle/Hunter area to only be placed on Level two restrictions at school, at this stage, this still means non-essential visitors including parents and carers aren’t allowed on site which will restrict some of the activities that  provide us with the opportunity to interact and engage together.

Zoom Meetings

Zoom meetings for Parent Teacher interviews have been a unique way to receive teacher feedback on your child’s performance in Semester 1. Subject selection information evenings in week 4 are always well supported by our year 7-10 students and parents. Like our parent teacher interviews these too have now been moved to Zoom. At these Zoom webinars we look forward to providing information on subject choices so that you can support your child with the subject selection process.

NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC week 2021 was celebrated in week 2 with an assembly. Alexis Lockett’s grandfather Mr Murray was guest speaker. This year’s theme, Heal Country! calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This assembly was proudly led by our recently formed Junior AECG.

Year 12 Exams

Year 12 students are starting to prepare for their HSC Trial Examinations which will be occurring in weeks 5 and 6.  These examinations provide an opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and complete their final assessments prior to the HSC. We wish them well with their examinations.

Lockout Practice

During week 4 the school will have a lockout practice to ensure we are aware of the process we are required to follow to ensure the safety of all staff and students if an emergency were to occur. Year 7 have not participated in the process as yet so extra guidance will be provided to them as well as the whole student body prior to the day.

Stay Connected

Due to Parent Learning Groups not occurring this term, please do not hesitate to contact us with any concerns or queries you may have in regard to the teaching, learning and wellbeing of your student/s.
