Humanities

... never forget the importance of history, to know nothing of what happened before you took your place on earth, is to remain a child for ever and ever ... MARCUS CICERO

Humanities is dedicated to students gaining a better insight into the world around them through exploring important events in our ancient, modern and contemporary histories. We seek to engage students in the studies of people, events and forces that shape our world to help them develop critical thinking and analysis skills they can apply today.

We are also a faculty whose purpose is to develop sophisticated thinking and writing skills in all of our students. If you explore the skills development flowchart posted here and around our classrooms you will see how essential thinking, writing and research skills are embedded and developed throughout the years of study. Our junior History subjects and electives are each designed to target and develop skill areas relevant to equipping students with the skills necessary to be successful with our senior subjects and maximise individual potential and growth from Year 7 onwards.

Our staffroom is always available for students who need additional support or have a query and providing substantive and practical feedback is at the core of our philosophy.
