Parents & Citizens

Parents & Citizens Association

The P&C and Parents play a vital role in supporting our school and contributing to the partnership between the student, school and home.

This can include School organised parent learning groups, parent donations and the P&C organised canteen, gardens, functions and other projects.

It is worthwhile that Parents are proactive and contribute to the improvements at school because resourcing to schools is limited by Government.  There are advantages with the collective capabilities of parent groups and the P&C in providing for our children and the School.

Providing for a child is a major focus of a parent's life and contributing at school sees benefits go to your child.  Children benefit when their parents are actively involved.

Merewether High School is different to other schools in that it is not part of a single suburban community.  Parent involvement at school provides access to the school community and an opportunity to meet other parents.  Other than your family, your child's friends and your child's school are the biggest influences on your teenager. As a parent volunteer you can keep in touch with these influences and also the parents of your child's friends'.

Parent participation also encourages student respect of the school environment with the parent volunteers work in the gardens and a child's self-respect with healthy food selection at the canteen.

P&C organised activities rely on parent volunteers and contributions that have flexible arrangements, including a small time spent at school, or spent at home or donations, etc.

All MHS parents, carers and friends are each invited and encouraged to be positive participants to help advance the best interests of the School and our children.

Meeting Times

Our P&C meet on Tuesday Week 3 and Week 8 of each term at 5:30 pm in the Independent Learning Centre, enter via the main gate on Chatham Street, turn right toward the ILC, situated on the street side of the Library.
