Deputies' Report

Deputies' Report Banner

It has been fantastic having our students back onsite and learning face to face in our classrooms. We have been overwhelmed by the seamless way students have adopted the COVID safe measures that have been implemented and how they have returned with such a positive outlook.

Our P&C have kindly donated several picnic rugs for students to borrow and use. Student groups have been enjoying using these rugs and it is has been fantastic seeing groups of students picnicking on the back fields during their recess and lunch breaks.

Our Year 12 and Accelerated Year 11 students have started completing their external HSC exams. This year students are sitting these exams in the school hall or next door in the Polish Centre. After a disrupted year of learning we have been very impressed with the way all students have approached each of their exams in a positive manner and a steely determination to do their personal best.

Prior to commencing their exams Year 12 students enjoyed a BBQ lunch with their peers and teachers. For more photos visit Year 12 BBQ. This provided an opportunity for us to reconnect with the entire year group and wish them all the luck prior to the exams beginning. Later this year we are planning on celebrating the end of their 13 years of school with a graduation assembly on the 14th December and their formal on the 15th. We are certainly looking forward to having the opportunity to celebrating their achievements after a particularly difficult HSC year.

The 2021, Muloobinbah LAECG Make a Difference (MAD) Awards, were celebrated via Zoom on October 28th  2021. Our nominees were Eli Coe Year 8 and Nerine Hazelwood, MHS Business Manager. Eli, is an outstanding student who takes the role of Secretary of our newly formed Junior AECG. He communicates effectively with all stakeholders and is polite, respectful and a proud, confident role model for our Aboriginal Students. Nerine assisted greatly in the planning and organisation of our Yarning Circle that is being developed in the School Holidays.

Both Ethan Floyd, the President of our JAECG and Lillamaya Kilham, Vice President of our Junior AECG presented the nominations for the Aboriginal Student Leadership Awards at the ceremony.

We have our new prefects Elect for 2022 who will be having their Perfect Investiture on Monday 6th December 2021. MHS would like to congratulate them on this leadership role and look forward to working closely with them in 2022.

Since students have returned, we have become aware of an increased consumption of energy drinks. Students are not permitted to have these drinks at school and ask for support from our parent community in ensuring that they are not brought to school by students.

We would like to congratulate our Year 7 students on their outstanding first year of High School, they have had to navigate so many disrupted activities and learning opportunities, we hope that Year 8 is a COVID restriction free year for them. Our MHS students of all year groups are outstanding, we are so proud of the resilience and tenacity shown throughout 2021.

We would like to wish all families a safe and relaxing break over the Holidays and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
