It is unfortunate that yet again we have found ourselves returning to learning remotely. Again, our school is unusually quiet and lacking the hustle and bustle of noise that we are accustomed to.

Whilst we would all prefer to be back onsite at school it is important that we follow the guidelines of both NSW Health and the Department of Education so that we can remain safe and well and get back onsite as soon as possible.

Over the last three weeks, we have watched both our students and staff seamlessly move to online learning. Whilst it isn’t easy for anyone, everyone has demonstrated great resilience and determination to continue with a range of learning experience. Both of us have been fortunate enough to connect with numerous students and families in a range of forums; zoom lessons, webinars, emails and the traditional phone call.

We would encourage students to reach out to our wellbeing staff; their year advisers, Sarah our Student Support Officer, Ms Johnson our Head Teacher Wellbeing, either of us or one of our counsellors if they would like to chat to someone. Details on how to connect with these staff are available on our new wellbeing hub, see the MHS website. Remember to get involved in the Lockdown Bingo Challenge, we have started.

Please take care and look after yourselves, your family and your loved ones. We will continue to keep fingers crossed that we are able to have students return soon and we are able to resume all the wonderful activities that make Merewether High such a fantastic school to be at!

Wake up early for the sunrise and share a photo with friends and family.

Go outside, take off your shoes and walk on the grass, feel the texture.
